Senior Charge Nurse

About the role

The Senior Charge Nurse will lead a dedicated nursing team within NHS Lothian, providing compassionate, high‑quality care to patients at the ECC/WGH sites. This senior position combines clinical expertise with leadership to support the Trust’s strategic vision.

Key responsibilities

• Inspire and manage a multidisciplinary nursing team, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Implement the Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan values and ambitions across the unit.
• Oversee clinical education, induction programmes and preceptorship for new staff.
• Drive continuous improvement in care quality, safety and patient experience.
• Collaborate with senior managers to align staffing and resources with service demands.
