Senior Civil Engineer – Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware Associate/Senior Civil Engineer to lead and develop our Civil Engineering team in Gateshead. This senior leadership position combines technical excellence, team management and business development responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape high‑profile infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the civil engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance environment.
• Provide technical expertise across sewerage, street and road design projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
• Manage business development activities and nurture client relationships to support commercial growth.
• Ensure designs adhere to Sewerage Sector Guidance, Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges and Local Authority Design Guidance.
• Prepare and submit technical approvals, coordinating with authorities and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior civil engineer or team leader within the UK construction sector.
• Commercially aware with a track record of driving business growth.
• Strong understanding of UK civil engineering standards and guidance documents.
