Senior Client Bookkeeper

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Client Bookkeeper to join a modern, forward‑thinking accountancy practice. The role involves managing a portfolio of clients across various sectors, delivering high‑quality bookkeeping and management accounting services.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of bookkeeping clients.
• Processing and reviewing bookkeeping records using Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
• Preparing and submitting VAT Returns.
• Producing monthly and quarterly Management Accounts.
• Bank, supplier and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting clients with cloud accounting software and best‑practice procedures.
• Preparing year‑end schedules and supporting the accounts preparation process.
• Assisting with Personal Tax Returns and Corporation Tax compliance work.
• Liaising directly with clients and developing long‑term relationships.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and add value to clients.

Required profile

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong bookkeeping experience across multiple clients.
• Excellent knowledge of Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
• Experience preparing VAT Returns and Management Accounts.
• Exposure to Personal Tax and Corporation Tax work.
• Strong communication and client relationship skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• AAT qualified or studying towards a professional qualification would be advantageous.
