Senior Clinical Mental Health Pharmacist

About the role

The Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced clinical pharmacist with a specialist interest in mental health to join the inpatient team at The Harbour Hospital, Blackpool. This senior position provides professional and clinical leadership across a range of mental health wards, including intensive care, acute adult, older adult, dementia, and Section 136 services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a Non‑Medical Prescribing service.
• Plan pharmaceutical care and conduct clinical reviews of prescriptions.
• Engage service users in medication decisions to optimise treatment and adherence.
• Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice to the multidisciplinary team.
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, offering clinical leadership.
• Ensure robust medicines management governance and monitor prescribing practices.
• Participate in strategic network and locality governance meetings.
• Contribute to the Trust’s medicines optimisation strategy.

Required profile

• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Significant post‑registration experience in a mental health setting.
• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to obtain a Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification if not already held.
