Senior Commercial Account Handler / Broker Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Account Handler / Broker Manager to join a fast‑growing insurance brokerage in Newcastle. The role is hybrid, offering a blend of office collaboration and remote flexibility while managing a diverse portfolio of commercial risks.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Account Executives to retain existing clients and grow new commercial insurance business.
• Negotiate renewal and new business terms with insurers on behalf of clients.
• Prepare and manage client documentation, including new business, renewals, endorsements, and mid‑term adjustments.
• Review policy documents for accuracy and alignment with client requirements.
• Deliver day‑to‑day account management and exceptional customer service across a varied commercial portfolio.
• Attend client meetings, provide professional support and maintain accurate meeting records.
• Build strong relationships with clients, prospects, insurer partners and internal stakeholders.
• Act as a technical referral point, mentoring junior team members and supporting their development.
• Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, company procedures and industry standards.
• Stay informed of market developments, insurer appetite changes and industry trends.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial insurance broking within a broker or insurer environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and underwriting.
• Ability to manage complex commercial risks and develop long‑term client relationships.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Commitment to compliance and regulatory standards.
