Senior Commercial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Accountant to act as the primary finance partner for a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses in Oxfordshire. You will combine accounting, tax and commercial advisory expertise to help ambitious SMEs make informed strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, serving as the first point of contact for financial and commercial matters.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Produce corporation tax computations, company tax returns and self‑assessment tax returns.
• Advise on VAT compliance and treatment.
• Provide commercial insight on profitability, cash flow, budgeting and business performance.
• Support clients with financial planning, forecasting and strategic decision‑making.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance and upsell additional advisory services.
• Mentor junior team members and stay current with UK accounting standards and tax legislation.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Proven ability to manage a client portfolio independently.
• Commercially minded with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent organisational ability to juggle multiple priorities.
