Senior Commercial Manager – Enterprise Space Category (ESC)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to lead commercial activities for the Enterprise Space Category (ESC) within the National Armaments Digital & Data (NA‑D&D) team. The role supports the SKYNET Integrated Enterprise Solution (SKIES) transformation project and the wider MOD satellite communications portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake end‑to‑end procurement, from market insight and requirement shaping to commercial model development for SKIES and SKYNET contracts.
• Plan and run compliant competitions, draft Invitation to Negotiate documents, set evaluation criteria and manage tender evaluation, negotiation and award decisions.
• Lead competitive and single‑source procurements for complex military satellite communications services and related professional services.
• Contribute to the pan‑government Enterprise Space Category Strategy, ensuring decisions are informed by market insight and value‑for‑money objectives.
• Manage awarded contracts, including supplier relationships, performance monitoring, risk, benefits tracking and transition or exit activities.
• Provide commercial expertise to the SKYNET project team, develop procurement strategies and negotiate space contract terms and conditions.

Required profile

• Demonstrable commercial experience or transferable skills in public sector procurement and contract management.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of medium to high‑value, high‑complexity contracts, with delegated authority up to £10 million.
• Experience working with cross‑government stakeholders and delivering value‑for‑money outcomes.
