Senior Communications Engineer

About the role

Babcock is looking for a Senior Communications Engineer to deliver military satellite communication solutions for maritime platforms, working on the UK MOD's modernised satellite network. The role is based at Hawthorn, near Corsham, Wiltshire, and can also be based at the Plymouth or Bristol sites. It is full time, 37 hours per week, with hybrid working depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Test and commission new equipment and services to meet UK security standards
• Manage obsolescence and ensure compliance with evolving security requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver communication solutions
• Install and configure IP networks and RF equipment on surface and sub-surface maritime platforms
• Respond to network incidents and provide third-line support for maritime customers

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline
• Background in telecommunications or satellite communications
• Experience installing network and RF equipment on maritime platforms and delivering MILSATCOM solutions
• Sole UK national able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance; DV clearance may be needed later

Required skills

• Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle and serial communication services
• Strong knowledge of IP network architectures
• CCNA certification preferred, or demonstrable experience at this level
