Senior Computational Designer (12 Month Fixed Term)

About the role

BWB Consulting is hiring a Senior Computational Designer for its Structural Engineering team in Nottingham on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Digital Innovation Lead, you will build smarter design workflows, automate modelling and turn engineering data into coordinated BIM models. The role is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test and maintain Dynamo and Python scripts that automate repetitive modelling and design tasks.
• Work with software developers, engineers and BIM teams to turn technical requirements into reliable tools for Revit production.
• Develop workflows that clean, structure and feed engineering data, rules and parameters into BIM models.
• Ensure automated models meet project standards, BIM execution plans and coordination requirements.
• Mentor colleagues as they adopt computational design and automation tools.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, plugins and methods and turn them into practical improvements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience developing parametric modelling frameworks and computational workflows in an architecture, engineering, construction or technology-integrated environment.
• Ability to explain complex coding and technical concepts clearly to engineers, BIM colleagues and project managers.
• Collaborative approach, confident in understanding user needs and challenging existing processes.

Required skills

• Advanced, hands-on proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Dynamo.
• Strong Python scripting, including the Revit API or Dynamo Python nodes.
• Advanced Excel, with experience cleaning, manipulating and structuring engineering datasets.
