Senior Contract Surveyor

About the role

Hill Group UK is seeking a Senior Contract Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on large‑scale residential developments in East London. You will own cost control, procurement and reporting across multiple project phases while mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial delivery from pre‑start to final account, managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and claims.
• Prepare and review cost forecasts, CVCs, valuations and outturn summaries, and contribute to early‑stage design reviews and value‑engineering opportunities.
• Mentor Trainee and Assistant Surveyors, support performance reviews and ensure compliance with Building Regulations, contract terms and ISO 9001 standards.

Required profile

• HND/HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying (or related) and Chartered (or working towards) RICS/MCIOB status.
• Strong experience managing commercial aspects of residential developments, including subcontract terms, procurement and cost control.
• Analytical, detail‑driven with strong forecasting and reporting abilities.

Required skills

• Cost forecasting and valuation preparation.
• Remeasurement for key trades (RC frame, groundworks, brickwork).
• Negotiation of final accounts, claims and change orders.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and Health & Safety in construction.
