Senior Contracts Associate

About the role

The Senior Contracts Associate will join the Contracts Team supporting King’s researchers. This hybrid position involves drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of research‑related agreements for public and private sector partners.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate research contracts, collaborations, framework agreements, consultancy and service agreements, as well as material, data transfers and CDAs.
• Act as the primary point of contact for contract support and legal expertise within the assigned area.
• Cost and price projects using King’s costing tool, Worktribe, ensuring full cost recovery and favourable payment terms.
• Review and secure optimal terms on intellectual property, publication rights, risk allocation, and reputational considerations.
• Draft legal agreements and provide expertise in contractual negotiation.
• Exercise delegated authority to negotiate conditions, draft agreements and submit official costs within defined limits.
• Develop expertise in external funders’ terms and relevant pricing methods in line with King’s policy.

Required profile

• Proven experience across the full contract lifecycle, from drafting to completion.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate legal and research‑related agreements, preferably within a higher‑education environment.
• Strong organisational, communication and literacy skills.
• Effective decision‑making and ability to work well under pressure.
