Senior Copy Editor – Public Sector Marketing

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Copy Editor to join a specialist division of a public‑sector office. Based in Edinburgh (with options for Newport or Darlington), you will support the marketing team by ensuring all written material is clear, accurate and aligned with brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Edit and proofread a wide range of marketing and communications content.
• Maintain and enforce brand guidelines across all outputs.
• Collaborate with marketers to refine messaging, tone and audience focus.
• Identify and correct grammatical, spelling and stylistic errors.
• Provide constructive feedback to writers to raise overall content quality.
• Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Required profile

• Proven experience editing and proofreading professional content.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively.
• Familiarity with public‑sector communications is advantageous.
• Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Expertise in copy editing and proofreading.
• Knowledge of brand guideline enforcement.
• Understanding of audience‑specific content adaptation.
