Senior Corporate Casualty Underwriter

About the role

This senior underwriting position sits within a leading global insurer’s Birmingham team. You will have full autonomy to write and manage a diverse portfolio of large corporate casualty risks across the UK and multinational programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal casualty business for large corporate accounts (premiums £50k+ up to £75 million, turnover £50 million+).
• Maintain and grow an existing portfolio, prioritising quality over volume.
• Develop strong trading relationships with key brokers such as Aon, Marsh, Lockton and Willis.
• Handle complex, multinational programmes and exposure to global placements.
• Provide regular broker contact and maintain a visible market presence in Birmingham and surrounding regions.

Required profile

• Experienced casualty underwriter with strong technical capability and disciplined underwriting judgement.
• Proven ability to manage large, complex corporate risks and multi‑broker relationships.
• Ready to step up from an underwriter role to a senior underwriting position.

• Technical underwriting expertise in corporate casualty lines.
