Senior Cost Manager – Construction Projects

About the role

KierBAM is seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join its joint‑venture team at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. You will be responsible for delivering the project within budget while maintaining quality and meeting tight deadlines on a site of national importance. The role offers a mix of remote work and occasional office attendance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost forecasts and develop realistic budgets based on project scope.
• Analyse cost data and produce clear financial reports for stakeholders.
• Manage NEC4 contracts, defined costs and change‑control processes.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate cost‑related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure alignment on priorities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of cost management and financial principles, with experience in budgeting and forecasting.
• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
• Experience with NEC4 contracts and an understanding of construction methods and resources.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, Power Query and dashboard creation.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
