Senior Costs Associate Solicitor – Insurance Litigation

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Costs Associate Solicitor to join our Insurance Business Services team within a leading national law firm. The role offers a flexible hybrid working model and the chance to manage a diverse portfolio of defendant costs matters across a range of insurance disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of defendant costs matters from instruction to conclusion.
• Draft Bills of Costs, Points of Dispute, Replies and prepare Schedules of Costs.
• Negotiate settlements and provide strategic costs advice on insurance litigation.
• Advise on Fixed Recoverable Costs regime and related insurance cost issues.
• Mentor and support junior team members and undertake advocacy where required.

Required profile

• Qualified Costs Lawyer, Solicitor or equivalent with experience handling defendant and/or claimant costs files.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Fixed Recoverable Costs regime.
• Experience in insurance‑related costs work (e.g., motor, employers’ liability, public liability, industrial disease, clinical negligence).
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to negotiate complex matters.
