Senior Credit Control & AP Officer

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in central London for a fast‑growing construction and property firm. The successful candidate will split their time between credit control (60%) and purchase ledger/accounting duties (30%), supporting a small finance team of five.

Key responsibilities

• Manage low‑volume, high‑value debt collections, reducing debtor days.
• Process high‑volume purchase ledger invoices, ensuring correct coding and timely payment runs.
• Perform double‑entry bookkeeping, month‑end journals, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee petty cash, credit‑card management, mileage and expense processing.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns with accuracy.
• Supervise a Ledger Clerk as the team expands.

Required profile

• Extensive credit‑control experience, preferably within construction or property consultancy.
• Proven track record of chasing overdue invoices across multiple communication channels.
• Strong understanding of accounting treatments and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Experience with double‑entry bookkeeping and month‑end accruals.
• AAT Level 3 qualification (or studying) is preferred.
