Senior Curriculum Leader - SENDCO

About the role

The school, an ambitious and inclusive secondary school in South London, is seeking an experienced Senior Curriculum Leader – SENDCO to join its leadership team from September 2026. The role will shape SEND provision across Key Stages 3‑5 while contributing to whole‑school improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the school’s SEND strategy and provision for Years 7‑13.
• Act as the designated SENDCO, overseeing EHCPs, annual reviews and all statutory processes.
• Drive inclusive teaching and learning across all departments.
• Line‑manage SEND staff and Learning Support Assistants.
• Monitor pupil progress and ensure effective interventions for students with additional needs.
• Collaborate with parents, external agencies and senior leaders to secure excellent outcomes.
• Contribute to safeguarding, curriculum development and overall school improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised UK equivalent.
• Proven experience leading SEND provision within a secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
• Outstanding leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to inclusion, achievement and student wellbeing.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of SEND legislation and best practice.
• Experience managing EHCPs and statutory SEND reviews.
• Ability to develop and implement inclusive curricula.
• Effective line‑management of SEND teams and support staff.
