Senior Data Engineer – 7-Month Fixed-Term

About the role

The Senior Data Engineer will join the Consumer Intelligence & Analytics team within the Data, Technology and Innovation division. You will help build and maintain data products that surface consumer insights, supporting the FCA’s mission to protect consumers and ensure market integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate sprints as a developer on the Consumer Intelligence Scrum Team.
• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and products using Python, Tableau and SQL.
• Analyse diverse consumer data sources to identify emerging risks and early‑warning signals.
• Create and enhance Tableau dashboards that translate data into clear, actionable insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the FCA to understand needs and deliver high‑value consumer intelligence.
• Promote data‑driven thinking by sharing insights and continuously improving tools and processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience using Python for data engineering and analysis.
• Experience with data visualisation tools, particularly Tableau.
• Background in analysing quantitative and qualitative data and presenting insights.
• Experience using social listening tools to capture consumer sentiment.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills and ability to simplify complex ideas.
• Well‑organised, reliable and familiar with JIRA for task management.
• Curiosity about consumer behaviour and emerging trends.

What we offer

• 7‑month fixed‑term contract (full‑time).
• Salary range: £53,800 – £62,700 (national) or £59,200 – £69,000 (London) per annum, based on experience.
