Senior Data Engineer

About the role

FSP Consulting is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its Data Architecture & Engineering team in Reading. You will work closely with architects and consultants to design and deliver high‑quality data solutions that enable customers to scale automated decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Understand customer requirements and design data solutions that deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Enable higher‑quality data creation and management within customer organisations.
• Develop cloud‑native data products and engineer data‑lake patterns to connect organisational and external data.
• Provide technical support through prototyping, testing, building and launching data products.
• Produce technical support and design documentation for data platforms and solutions.
• Continuously refine development standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong expertise with legacy on‑prem technologies such as SQL Server and SSIS.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, Boards) and Data‑Ops activities including PR review, repo management, job scheduling, performance tuning and monitoring.
• Solid exposure to cloud technologies and Microsoft Fabric, including its monitoring, security and governance configurations.
• Excellent communication skills for both business and technical audiences.
• Proactive interest in emerging technologies, detail‑oriented, and able to work autonomously.
