Senior Data Engineer – Python, SQL & Data Pipelines

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a fast‑growing computer‑vision startup in London. You will work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, building scalable data infrastructure that powers AI‑driven products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and orchestration tools such as Dagster.
• Create and optimise data models for transactional and analytical workloads.
• Write high‑performance SQL queries, procedures, and API integrations.
• Debug, enhance, and maintain existing systems and codebases.
• Implement unit and integration tests to ensure reliability.
• Profile and optimise performance for scalability and responsiveness.
• Document pipelines, databases, and architecture clearly.
• Collaborate with backend, cloud, and product engineering teams.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and evaluate new technologies.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Excellent Python programming and object‑oriented development skills.
• Proven ability to design data models for operational and analytical systems.
• Solid debugging, troubleshooting, and performance‑tuning capabilities.
• Experience with Git and collaborative code reviews.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
