Senior Design Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Design Manager to join Kier’s Assured Delivery team, working across the UK on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. The role combines strategic design leadership with hands‑on engineering assurance to deliver high‑quality, sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design management and engineering assurance, controlling design programmes, budgets and quality standards.
• Manage interfaces between stakeholders, design teams and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Chair interdisciplinary coordination meetings and own engineering discipline interfaces.
• Drive design development with focus on buildability, safety, sustainability and value engineering.
• Ensure technical compliance and quality control across all design requirements.

Required profile

• Degree in an engineering discipline and professional qualification (CEng/IEng) or working towards it.
• Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering and construction projects.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Creative problem‑solver with resourceful approach.
• Detailed knowledge of CDM 2015, strong technical and information‑management skills, and a valid driving licence.
