Senior Development Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Development Engineer to lead, manage, and deliver infrastructure and engineering designs for residential housing developments. The role is based in Alderley Edge, Cheshire and works Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑17:30, on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage civil and structural designs for roads, drainage, sewers and foundations.
• Secure Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements with local authorities and water companies.
• Appoint, brief and manage external engineering consultants to ensure high‑quality outputs.
• Review architectural and engineering layouts to identify cost savings and buildability improvements.
• Provide immediate technical advice to site managers to resolve active site issues.
• Assess new land opportunities for engineering constraints, drainage viability and development risks.
• Ensure all designs comply with statutory regulations, Building Regulations, health and safety requirements and NHBC standards.

Required profile

• BSc, BEng or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven track record working for a UK housebuilder, residential developer or civil engineering consultancy.
• Strong understanding of adoptable highways, drainage systems, Section Agreements and foundation design.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with local authority officers, statutory bodies and key stakeholders.
