Senior Drainage Engineer – Cardiff

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to join the Kier Design team in Cardiff. The role involves delivering high‑quality drainage designs for highway, water utility and flood‑risk projects, working both remotely and on‑site as required.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Drainage Lead in delivering a portfolio of projects to established standards, timelines and budgets across highway drainage, water utilities and Lead Local Flood Authority contracts.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and statutory bodies to ensure project success.
• Lead technically challenging drainage projects, providing innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Coordinate daily tasks, review deliverables and ensure quality standards are met.
• Mentor and coach team members, sharing expertise to support development.
• Manage project delivery within programmes and budgets, raising concerns promptly.

Required profile

• Experience in highway drainage, water utilities and working with Lead Local Flood Authorities.
• Proficiency in InfoDrainage and AutoCAD Civil3D with strong technical ability.
• Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent) and membership of a relevant engineering institution.
• Approximately 8 years of experience leading diverse drainage projects.
• Clear communicator who enjoys collaboration and team development.
