Senior Ecologist – Lead Ecological Surveys

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join a well‑established, multidisciplinary environmental consultancy in Milton Keynes. The role involves leading ecological surveys, producing high‑quality technical reports and supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver ecological field surveys on a range of sites.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, including EcIA and BNG assessments.
• Manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
• Contribute to licence applications, project proposals and provide ecological advice to clients.

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in ecology consultancy.
• Strong ecological report writing and project management abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.

Required skills

• Experience with EcIA (Ecological Impact Assessment) and BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) assessments.
• Knowledge of protected species survey licences (desirable).
• CIEEM membership or working towards membership.
