Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design and delivery for a major Thames Water infrastructure project. The role is based in East Hyde, Bedfordshire with flexible remote working and occasional site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering from concept through to handover, ensuring compliance with the highest standards.
• Develop and manage inspection and test plans, attend tests and support the commissioning team.
• Liaise with client engineering, operational staff, suppliers and specialist subcontractors to coordinate seamless delivery.
• Take overall responsibility for profit and loss on contracts and produce project‑specific reports.
• Compile final contract documentation, including as‑built drawings, test sheets and operation & maintenance manuals.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the water and wastewater industry.
• Proven ability to deliver multiple projects on time and within budget while maintaining health, safety and environmental standards.
• Confident leadership and on‑site team management, including participation in an on‑call rota (1 in 7).
• Collaborative approach with clients and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions.

Required skills

• Electrical system design for water and wastewater facilities.
• Inspection and test planning.
• Commissioning of electrical installations.
• Preparation of as‑built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
• Knowledge of sewage process systems, biomethane digesters and sludge works.
