Senior Engineer – Auxiliary & Waste Block Lead

About the role

Rolls‑Royce SMR is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the design and integration of the Auxiliary & Waste Block for its next‑generation small modular reactor. This role offers the chance to shape a pioneering nuclear power solution and to leave a lasting legacy in the energy sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Auxiliary & Waste Block scope across the SMR programme.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop integrated layout and installation solutions.
• Define design specifications in line with the gated engineering lifecycle.
• Conduct technical reviews, design maturity assessments and resolve complex integration issues.
• Develop block delivery strategies with key engineering stakeholders.
• Maintain plans to meet cost, schedule and quality targets while managing technical risks, assumptions and lessons learned.
• Provide technical checking, governance and approvals as required.
• Coach and support engineers across the wider team and drive cross‑discipline collaboration.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering layout and installation design programmes.
• Strong background in Design for X (DfX) and trade‑study execution.
• Demonstrated ability to apply systems‑engineering principles, including requirements and risk management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering work packages.
• Excellent technical communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
