Senior Engineer – Drainage and Water

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Design team, delivering sustainable drainage and water solutions across a variety of projects. The role is based in Exeter, Ipswich or Salford with flexible remote working and occasional office visits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of drainage and water design packages for building, development, transportation and flood‑management projects.
• Manage programme, budget and risk commitments for assigned work packages, escalating issues when necessary.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure integrated design outcomes.
• Provide line‑management, mentoring and technical development for graduates and apprentices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of team standards, practices and delivery quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering drainage and water design packages with a high degree of technical autonomy.
• Strong ability to manage programme awareness, cost control and proactive risk mitigation.
• Excellent collaboration skills within multi‑disciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
• Track record of producing compliant engineering outputs aligned with relevant standards and regulations.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
