Senior Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Kier Design team in Leeds, working within the Structures & Geotechnical capability of Kier’s internal consultancy. The role is full‑time, 40 hours per week, with flexible and remote working options and occasional office visits. You will support the delivery of complex civil and structural infrastructure projects for clients such as local authorities, National Highways, Network Rail and major water utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of permanent and temporary works for structures, highways, geotechnics and infrastructure as part of an integrated design‑and‑construct offering.
• Provide tender and bid support, including outline design schemes, feasibility studies and innovative, build‑focused concepts.
• Offer design‑management advice and act as Lead Designer on multidisciplinary projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct technical assessments and reviews of third‑party designs to ensure compliance with client and Kier requirements.
• Take on job‑leader duties such as agreeing technical requirements, developing fee proposals, managing project finances and delivering to programme and budget.

Required profile

• Incorporated Member (IEng) of a relevant professional institution or EngTech with substantial civil and structural engineering experience.
• Focused, disciplined and thorough approach to delivering client solutions.
• Full, valid driving licence.
