Senior Engineering Geologist – Geotechnical Consultancy

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist to join a well‑established geotechnical consultancy in Edinburgh. You will lead ground investigations, interpret data, and deliver high‑quality technical reports for a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and execute site investigations, including borehole logging, trial pitting and in‑situ testing.
• Produce factual and interpretative geotechnical reports and develop ground models.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice to clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support project delivery from initial planning through to completion.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to their technical development.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in engineering geology and ground investigation within the UK.
• Strong understanding of UK ground conditions and geotechnical principles.
• Excellent communication, organisational and client‑facing skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
