Senior Engineering Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading engineering organisation in the aerospace, defence and industrial sectors, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join their leadership team. The role will be based in either North Wales or the South West, operating on a hybrid four‑day week with regular travel between sites.

Key responsibilities

• Align engineering resources with strategic objectives to meet short‑ and long‑term business goals.
• Lead, develop and manage a high‑performing engineering team, handling capacity planning, recruitment, coaching, performance management and employee relations.
• Drive new business growth by contributing to bid development, customer relationship management and contract acquisition.
• Oversee new product development programmes from award to supply‑chain introduction, ensuring cost, schedule and performance targets are met.
• Provide in‑service engineering support, including issue resolution, failure analysis and concession management.
• Identify technology gaps, conduct market analysis and lead acquisition and maturation initiatives.
• Establish performance metrics and champion continuous improvement and compliance with certifications and internal procedures.

Required profile

• Degree‑qualified in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in aerospace, defence or a similarly regulated industry.
• Proven leadership ability with a track record of delivering results through teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Professional demeanor in challenging situations and effective time‑management.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
