Senior ER Advisor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our HR team on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. You will partner with managers across the organisation, providing expert guidance on high‑risk and sensitive employee relations matters while ensuring legal compliance and supporting organisational change.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and coaching to managers on complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, performance, redundancy, restructures and appeals.
• Lead and manage complex ER cases from initial consultation through to resolution, mitigating organisational risk and ensuring fair, consistent outcomes.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law and ensure organisational compliance.
• Develop, review and enhance HR policies and procedures in line with legislative changes and safeguarding obligations.
• Create and deliver HR training, webinars and practical guidance for managers.
• Support performance management processes and provide constructive feedback to managers.
• Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and wider people projects.
• Support organisational redesigns, restructures and change management programmes.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of HR services.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior HR Advisor or Employee Relations Advisor in a medium to large organisation (500+ employees).
• Extensive experience handling complex, high‑risk employee relations cases across a broad range of issues.
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Ability to provide sound judgement and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations.

• Competitive salary £40,000‑£43,000 per year.
• Hybrid working model – 2 days in the Manchester office, 3 days remote.
• 6‑month fixed‑term contract with potential for extension.
