Senior Estimator - Defence

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in the Defence sector to join our Bristol team. You will develop and assure cost estimates for high‑profile infrastructure and programme delivery projects, working in a hybrid model with 2‑3 days on site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate project and programme cost estimates from early order‑of‑magnitude assessments to detailed stages.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve complex cost models supporting Defence programmes.
• Deliver estimating assurance activities and validate cost data against commercial benchmarks.
• Support the creation and execution of estimating strategies for major programmes.
• Collaborate with integrated Project Controls teams and provide expert advice to clients.
• Mentor junior estimators and promote best‑practice estimating processes.
• Contribute to business development, bid preparation and the growth of Defence estimating capability.

Required profile

• Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering complex cost estimates and models within the Defence sector.
• Background working in integrated Project Controls environments and public‑sector programmes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client‑facing interactions.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
