Senior Estimator

About the role

Join one of Ayrshire’s largest engineering employers at Prestwick Aerosystems, a leading manufacturer of aircraft wing structures for Airbus. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates for products and services, using systematic and uniform approaches to ensure competitiveness and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate tasks and guide estimators to produce competitive quotes for new business, ranging from detailed parts to major aircraft components.
• Compile estimates from full engineering definitions such as drawings and Bills of Materials, as well as using parametric or historical data where engineering data is limited.
• Present estimates clearly, highlighting assumptions, to stakeholders unfamiliar with the technical details.
• Liaise with other departments and stakeholders to gather and analyse data required for estimates and quotations.
• Provide estimating support for projects, engineering changes and cost‑reduction opportunities.

Required profile

• Systematic, uniform approach to completing tasks in a timely manner.
• Developed commercial and financial awareness with ability to understand contract terms and legal requirements.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for internal and external interactions.
• Capability to manage complex tasks and small projects.
• Knowledge of export control of data and product requirements.
