Senior Facilities Manager

About the role

The Senior Facilities Manager will lead the facilities and building maintenance programme for a portfolio of primary and secondary schools in Minehead and Taunton. The role combines hands‑on site oversight with strategic planning to ensure safe, functional and cost‑effective environments for pupils and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day facilities operations across all school sites, ensuring safety and functionality.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety legislation and other statutory requirements.
• Manage the facilities budget, monitor spend and drive cost‑efficiency.
• Lead capital‑expenditure projects, refurbishments and major repairs.
• Support sustainability initiatives, including energy‑saving measures.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and service providers to deliver quality work on time.
• Monitor condition of assets, produce reports and recommend improvements.
• Lead and develop the facilities team to achieve operational excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities management within a multi‑site environment, preferably education.
• Strong knowledge of health‑and‑safety regulations and statutory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and optimise resources.
• Experience delivering capital projects and refurbishments.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work on‑site and in office across Minehead and Taunton daily.
