Senior Field Engineer – Data Centre (Server, Network & Storage)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Field Engineer to provide on‑site and remote support for data‑centre infrastructure across South East London and surrounding areas. Working from home you will travel to client sites to resolve server, storage and network issues, ensuring service levels are met.

Key responsibilities

• Triaging and resolving server, storage and network problems for customers.
• Taking ownership of incidents that could impact contractual SLA.
• Handling fault maintenance calls, ordering parts and providing general support.
• Participating in pre‑sales technical activities and a regional 24/7 on‑call rota.
• Identifying complex issues, evaluating options and implementing solutions.
• Collaborating with Service Delivery, Service Desk, Logistics and Purchasing teams.
• Maintaining accurate records in internal systems and keeping technical knowledge up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Proven experience with server, storage and network devices.
• Background in the IT maintenance services industry.
• Ability to support external customers and IT system engineers professionally.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work outside core hours and a valid driving licence.
• Willingness to travel across South East London and surrounding areas.

• Equipment from IBM, SUN, Cisco, Dell, HP, NetApp, Fujitsu, EMC and Hitachi.

What we offer

• Salary up to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience).
• £5,000 car allowance.
• Permanent full‑time contract with a Monday‑Friday schedule.
• Hybrid work model – home‑based with client site visits.
