Senior Finance Business Partner – Dedicated Schools Grant

About the role

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking a high‑performing Senior Finance Business Partner to support Education and the Dedicated Schools Grant, focusing on the High Needs Budget. This 12‑month fixed‑term maternity cover role will involve financial planning, in‑year budget monitoring and strategic financial insight.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial planning and medium‑term financial planning, including ‘Critical 5’ business unit reporting.
• Assess financial implications for decision‑making papers, CMT reports and procurements.
• Monitor savings trackers, external funding bids and related reporting.
• Participate in Transformation Boards, supporting change initiatives and emerging issues.
• Provide financial modelling, analysis and advisory on complex financial matters.
• Support business case development and deliver value‑for‑money, income optimisation and benchmarking insights.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior finance business partnering within a large public‑sector organisation.
• CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant with a proven senior‑level track record.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale budgets, complex financial modelling and savings targets.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills for senior leaders and frontline teams.
• Strong leadership capability to inspire high‑performing teams and foster collaboration.
