Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

This newly created senior finance position sits at the heart of a respected professional services organisation. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and CFO, taking ownership of statutory accounts, audit coordination and partnership accounting while driving improvements across the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of annual LLP statutory accounts.
• Manage the external audit process and act as the primary contact for auditors.
• Support the monthly financial close, posting complex journals and maintaining general ledger integrity.
• Complete all balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual account movements.
• Prepare detailed variance analysis for management accounts against budgets and forecasts.
• Oversee partner capital accounts, drawings, tax reserves and profit allocations.
• Review payroll journals and reconcile payroll‑related balance‑sheet items.
• Identify and implement finance process improvements and reporting enhancements.
• Support finance systems upgrades and automation initiatives.
• Provide guidance to junior finance team members and collaborate with commercial finance, credit control and cashiering teams.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in a practice or industry finance role, with exposure to statutory accounts and external audit.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial reporting and balance‑sheet integrity.
• Experience working with senior leadership and delivering insightful financial commentary.
• Strong analytical mindset and a track record of driving continuous improvement.
