Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

The Senior Financial Accountant will lead month‑end financial accounting, reporting and control for a global oil and gas trading entity. The role combines technical accounting, audit coordination and financial analysis to ensure accurate financial statements and compliance with IFRS.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end timetable, post journals (actuals, accruals, depreciation, exchange revaluation) and produce group financial statements.
• Review trade settlement reports, derivatives and trade finance accounting, ensuring accurate revenue and cost of revenue reporting.
• Control fixed‑asset register, inventory management and monthly AP/AR ageing reports.
• Lead the annual statutory audit, prepare IFRS‑compliant financial statements and support audit board papers.
• Monitor and test the Financial Control Framework twice yearly and implement new accounting standards.

Required profile

• Significant experience in senior financial accounting within a commodities or energy trading environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and group accounting guidelines.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end close, audit processes and financial reporting for multiple entities.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on revenue, cost and variance analysis.
