Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

The Forward Deployed Engineering team at FINBOURNE works directly with pre‑ and post‑sales clients, from start‑up hedge funds to multinational financial service providers, to turn business problems into working solutions on LUSID and Luminesce. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer you will own client workstreams end‑to‑end, combining hands‑on software engineering with deep financial domain expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical design and delivery of client workstreams end‑to‑end, including scoping, sequencing and building complex components.
• Translate client operating models into LUSID structures across asset classes and workflows without separate domain support.
• Debug across the full stack – LUSID, Luminesce, SDKs, deployments and system resources – and identify root causes.
• Build and configure data pipelines, integrations, queries, scheduler jobs and config‑driven deployments using fbnconfig.
• Manage workstream plans, RAID logs, milestones and run steering committees and difficult client conversations.

Required profile

• Basic C# knowledge with ability to read and follow an existing codebase.
• Familiarity with command‑line AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) and interest in using them.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to trace issues to their root cause.
• Clear written and verbal communication, especially for non‑technical audiences.
• Collaborative, proactive mindset in an informal, agile environment.
• Eagerness to learn financial instruments, valuations and build well‑tested software.
