Senior Front Office Engineer – Short-Term Power Markets

About the role

We are seeking a senior Python engineer to join our Data Science & Technology team in London. The role focuses on short‑term power initiatives, building real‑time trading applications, analytics platforms and data pipelines that empower the European Intraday Power desk.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain real‑time trading applications and analytics tools.
• Build and operate data pipelines that feed market and weather data to the front office.
• Enable traders to test and execute strategies efficiently in fast‑moving power markets.
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts, traders and infrastructure teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python.
• 5+ years supporting intraday short‑term power trading or a comparable real‑time energy market environment.
• Strong computer‑science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms and software design.
• Proficiency with SQL and relational database technologies.
• Experience with DevOps practices, Docker and cloud‑native deployments.
• Hands‑on experience in Linux and Windows environments.
