Senior Frontend Engineer – JavaScript & AI Tools

About the role

We are looking for a self‑motivated Senior Frontend Engineer to join the ScienceDirect team. You will work on high‑impact web applications used by millions of researchers worldwide, leveraging modern JavaScript, React, Node.js and AI‑assisted development tools.

Key responsibilities

• Develop responsive, performant web interfaces using React.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to turn designs into functional applications.
• Optimize applications for accessibility, cross‑browser compatibility and device responsiveness.
• Use AI‑assisted tools to design, implement, refactor, test and debug code.
• Critically evaluate AI‑generated output to maintain code quality and standards.
• Write well‑tested, documented, peer‑reviewed code and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Work closely with product managers and QA to meet user and business requirements.
• Share knowledge and support the growth of the London engineering team.

Required profile

• Strong experience building modern web applications with React and Node.js.
• Comfortable experimenting with AI‑assisted development while applying solid engineering judgement.
• Ability to work in an agile, cross‑functional team and communicate effectively with designers and product owners.
• Commitment to writing maintainable, high‑quality code.
