Senior Group Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Group Financial Accountant to join a high‑performing Group Finance team in Dorset. Working from the Wareham office twice a month, you will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely external reporting across a complex group structure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of statutory accounts for all subsidiary companies.
• Support the production of consolidated management accounts.
• Act as primary contact for external audits, coordinating information and ensuring a smooth audit process.
• Own external regulatory reporting, including statutory submissions and returns.
• Prepare and submit entity and consolidated VAT returns, liaising with HMRC and external advisers.
• Collaborate with corporation tax advisers on annual tax reporting.
• Provide technical accounting guidance, ensuring compliance with the latest standards.
• Identify and drive improvements in financial processes, controls, and reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of qualified and part‑qualified finance professionals.
• Deputise for the head of department when required.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Minimum three years post‑qualified experience in financial or statutory accounting.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and consolidated financial statements.
• Experience managing or coordinating external audits.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including FRS102.
• Solid understanding of VAT and experience preparing VAT returns.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
