Senior Healthcare Assistant – Clinical Research Facility

About the role

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join the National Institute of Health Research Clinical Research Facility. This full‑time Band 3 position offers the chance to work in a dynamic research environment supporting inpatient and day‑case participants.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical phlebotomy services in line with guidelines and dispatch samples to appropriate laboratories.
• Perform central venous catheter blood sampling and central line care according to trust policy.
• Rotate through outpatient clinics to room patients, record vitals, conduct observations, and assist with echocardiograms (ECG).
• Act as clinic coordinator, ensuring safe and timely patient throughput.
• Support nursing staff on the treatment floor during therapies and patient discharge.
• Work flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights and occasional weekends.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, flexible and initiative‑taking with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
• Willingness to cover varied clinical areas and shift patterns.
