Senior Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients & Phlebotomy

About the role
This permanent position is based in Manchester and supports the Outpatients Department and community sites across Greater Manchester. You will work as a Senior Healthcare Assistant delivering person‑centred care, supporting patients in phlebotomy services and outpatient clinics, and acting as a reassuring presence during key moments of care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide holistic, person‑centred care to patients in community and onsite settings.
- Perform clinical tasks within competence, including phlebotomy and venepuncture (training provided).
- Follow Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique (ANTT) and local infection‑prevention policies.
- Work closely with registered nurses and multidisciplinary team members.
- Accurately record observations, interventions and outcomes.
- Travel across Greater Manchester sites, working independently and managing workload.
Required profile
- Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to work alone and travel between sites.
- Compassionate, dedicated and able to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
Required skills
- Phlebotomy and venepuncture.
- NEWS2 scoring.
- CVADS and TVADS assessment.
- AKI and sepsis identification.
- Urinalysis.
- ECG interpretation.
- Moving and handling.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- Blood sugar monitoring.
- Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique (ANTT).
