Senior Highways Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Highways Design Engineer to join our Highways Design team in Salford. You will work within the Civil Engineering department on the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework, delivering designs, drawings and technical documentation that meet client specifications, budgets and timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and detailed highway designs in line with approved procedures for local and national authorities.
• Support the Principal Engineer with design schedules, health, safety and welfare contract documentation, and CDM 2015 compliance.
• Produce design drawings, technical and feasibility studies, and assess risks, materials and costs.
• Conduct site investigations, analyse maps, reports and test data, and deliver technical files.
• Contribute to technical excellence, innovate solutions, and ensure compliance with Kier's SHEMS and KDTS IMS.
• Set delivery targets, report progress, mentor junior staff and maintain client relationships.
• Promote health and safety in the workplace and represent best practice to colleagues.

Required profile

• Member of a professional engineering body with IEng or CEng status, or working towards it.
• Strong working knowledge of civil engineering design software.
• Proven experience delivering highway design projects for national or local authorities.
