Senior Housing Officer

About the role

The Senior Housing Officer (also known as Neighbourhood Services Manager) will be the primary contact for customers across a defined patch of properties in Salford. You will deliver a responsive housing management service, supporting customers to resolve issues, become more independent, and safeguarding the most vulnerable in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Handle tenancy‑related queries in line with contractual requirements, Great Places policies and the Service Delivery Framework.
• Provide direct tenancy support to sustain tenancies and promote independence.
• Market vacant homes, allocate properties that meet both customer needs and business objectives.
• Manage full rent accounts, coach customers on budgeting, set realistic payment plans and, where necessary, initiate court action as a last resort.
• Respond to anti‑social behaviour and tenancy breaches with timely investigations and appropriate actions.
• Address safeguarding concerns promptly, following legal requirements and guidelines.
• Conduct regular estate and scheme inspections, monitor neighbourhood service contracts and address under‑performance.
• Collaborate with external agencies and partners to deliver interventions that benefit customers.

Required profile

• Commitment to continued professional development.
• Experience in the housing sector or a similar role (desirable).
• Understanding of estate and tenancy management and experience delivering tenancy‑related services (desirable).
• Proven ability to work in a customer‑focused environment and deliver high standards.
