Senior Hydrologist – Flood Modeller

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Hydrologist to lead flood risk and drainage projects for a growing consultancy in Edinburgh. The role offers ownership of technical delivery across Scotland and the wider UK, working with public and private sector clients in a supportive, technically strong team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead flood risk assessments and develop drainage strategies.
• Provide technical input to hydrological modelling and SuDS design.
• Collaborate closely with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, standards and best practice.
• Mentor junior staff and review technical outputs.
• Support tenders, fee proposals and business development activities.
• Contribute to high‑quality delivery across multiple schemes.

Required profile

• Degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years’ experience in flood risk or drainage projects.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
