Senior ICP-MS Analytical Chemist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior ICP‑MS Analytical Chemist to join our specialist contract testing laboratory in Bedford. The role focuses on environmental and pesticide sample analysis for the agro‑chemical sector, offering a permanent, full‑time position within an ISO 17025 accredited environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse a wide range of environmental and trace‑analysis samples using ICP‑MS.
• Perform sample extractions, preparation of stocks, reagents and solutions.
• Develop, optimise and validate new ICP‑MS methods.
• Supervise and train junior laboratory staff.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline (or equivalent accredited laboratory experience).
• Several years’ experience in an ISO 17025/UKAS accredited environmental testing laboratory.
• Proven hands‑on experience with ICP‑MS, including method development and validation.
• Experience training or supervising laboratory staff.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high‑throughput, fast‑paced laboratory.
• Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
