Senior Indirect Tax Specialist

About the role

Welltower is seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Specialist to support the business across all aspects of indirect tax reporting, compliance, governance and advisory work. The role is hands‑on, 100% office‑based and works closely with finance, legal, commercial and transactions teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and submit UK VAT returns, CIS reports and Stamp Duty/SDLT filings.
• Conduct VAT compliance reviews, balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain tax control frameworks.
• Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submissions to HMRC.
• Provide day‑to‑day VAT and indirect tax advice to finance, AP/AR, legal and operational teams.
• Review contracts, invoices and transaction flows for tax implications.
• Support the Tax Transactions team on acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and financing.
• Assist with internal audits, HMRC enquiries and maintain technical tax documentation.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of UK indirect taxes (VAT, CIS, Stamp Duty, SDLT).
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
• Experience in tax compliance, reporting and advisory within a corporate environment.
