Senior Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen the depth and resilience of Plessey’s on‑premise estate while supporting our growing cloud workloads. You will join a mature team responsible for the day‑to‑day health of Windows, Linux, VMware and networking platforms, and help evolve our Kubernetes and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support on‑premise infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Linux (RHEL), storage and Kubernetes clusters.
• Maintain networking, firewalls, Intune and Microsoft 365 services across the estate.
• Manage patching, vulnerability remediation and security hardening for servers and endpoints.
• Support existing AWS and Azure workloads, ensuring security, efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
• Develop and extend Kubernetes deployments on‑premise and in the cloud using IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to IT projects, delivering solutions that meet business requirements.
• Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge to reduce single points of failure.
• Provide senior technical guidance, incident response and on‑call support as needed.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in infrastructure engineering, preferably in an on‑premise environment.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Windows Server, Active Directory and hybrid Azure AD.
• Experience administering VMware vSphere in production.
• Solid knowledge of SAN/storage technologies and Linux (RHEL or equivalent).
• Working understanding of networking and firewall administration.
• Experience supporting AWS or Azure environments and managing Kubernetes clusters.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to other office locations.
